Rome

We got up to check out by 10, return car to airport and then got a cab to train station to head to Rome We arrived around 2 pm and checked into Westin which apparently is also hosting the ferrari tribute drivers in the 1000 Miglia (apparently a famous car rally). After getting our room (we were upgraded to a deluxe room -yay) we set out to explore Rome We saw the spanish steps, trevi fountain and a lot of stores We had amazing gelato and later had dinner at a great care when Missy got her cacio e pepe and I had bucatini. The car rally leg ended in front of our hotel -so after dinner we watched all the different cars go by. The Mille Miglia was an open-road, motorsport endurance race established in 1927 by the young Counts Francesco Mazzotti and Aymo Maggi. It took place in Italy 24 times from 1927 to 1957 (13 times before World War II, and 11 times from 1947). Since 1977, the "Mille Miglia" has been reborn as a regularity race for classic and vintage cars. Participation is limited to cars, produced no later than 1957, which had attended (or were registered to) the original race. The route (Brescia–Rome round trip) is similar to that of the original race, maintaining the point of departure/arrival in Viale Venezia in Brescia. It was cool seeing all of the old cars as well as all the police
