Lago de Braies

We got up early and after breakfast headed to Lago de Braies We wanted to avoid the toll road so we went on backroads in place of the highway. The scenery was magnificent though i must say the roads were a bit narrow, windy, and people seem to like to challenge the speed limits here. We got to the lake and took the 2.5 mile hike around the lake, followed by lunch at the lakeside hotel. As we left the lake area we were stopped by the Carabinieri (police). That gave us a bit of a fright but apparently here they stop people just for document checks. All our documents were in order (passports,rental car agreement, licenses- so we were sent on our way. We drove to Cortina d'Ampezzo where we will stay the next 2 days
